PIE CRUST

2 cups flour

¾ teaspoons salt

2/3 cup shortening or butter

½ teaspoons vinegar

4 tablespoons water

Sift the flour and salt into a large bowl. Cut the shortening into the flour mixture until pieces are the size of small peas. Combine the vinegar and water in a separate small bowl. Sprinkle the liquid mixture into the flour, 1 tablespoon at the time, until all the flour is moistened and the dough almost cleans the side of the bowl. Gather the dough into a ball, cover with plastic wrap, and chill for 30 minutes before using. Bake at 450ºF for 12 to 15 minutes or follow the pie recipe instructions.
